This love story is not out of a fairy tale…

Love comes when you least expect it.  In my case, love strolled in to my friend KJ’s “all white birthday soirée”, as he called it. First thing I noticed, (besides his luscious head of hair) were his dingy, orangey colored, “vintage” looking chucks.  See, I’ve always had a thing for clean shoes, but in this case the rules seemed to have vanished.  I was mesmerized by this stranger’s eclectic looks and refreshing wits.  I was relieved that for once, a person I just met didn’t try to build a conversation with the old boring LA question, “so what do you do for living?”  For the rest of the night, I knew nothing but his name and what a fun and cute guy he was.  And that’s all I needed to know 😉

None of my charming ways seemed to work this night.  As I tried to be “cute” and flirt, I asked what this Jesus figurine was doing in his shirt pocket and then boom!!!  Jesus and his crisp white shirt were covered in red wine.  I had just twisted my 5 inch ankles of the night and fallen on my ass.  We laughed it off and moved on.  I knew it was going to be a great night.  We talked about lucid dreaming, hiking, and my fear of heights.  That night, we sat on a ledge of a downtown LA high rise and fear was the last thing in my mind.

They say time flies when you are having a good time and this is specially true in our case.  Five years later, I am still intrigued by this man.  Almost a month ago, we took a little trip to Isla Mujeres, Mexico a little island across from Cancun.  A charming place that makes my little heart jump with joy every time I’m there!  One afternoon, as we watched the sunset from our rooftop, he made me believe he was fulfilling his “Instagram boyfriend” duties by taking cheesy sunset pictures of me.  He asked me not to move as I gazed on the opposite direction.  Then he asked me to turn around at the perfect moment before the sun went to sleep.  There he was in one knee and I fell in love with him all over again.  As I see it, this love story has just begun!

Happy 5 years my Sun, you make everyday feel like Sunday 🙂

I dedicate this piece to our brilliant and beautiful friend KJ. I met him because of you.  I know you are smiling down from heaven.  We love you.

love4North Beach, Isla Mujeres…where the love story began a few years back when we made plans of the future.  💫

love9White sand, turquoise water and happiness, the day after the engagement ♥  North beach is and will remain my favorite beach in the world.

love3The one ♥

love6The South side of the Island it’s just as beautiful.  What is now called Garrafon National Park, is the highest point in the Yucatan Peninsula.  Where the sun first kisses the soil in all of Mexico every morning.  Breathtaking views of Cancun and the caribbean at the lands’ end.

love5The Mayans built a temple here in the South point, honoring Mayan Goddess Ixchel.  Goddess of the moon, fertility, medicine, and happiness.  More history on the Island here

love1My best friend, biggest supporter and my sun.  Because with you, I blossom without limitations.

love7Behind me you can see an sculpture exhibit of 23 Mexican & International artists beautifully surrounding the remains of the Mayan temple to Ixchel.

love8All white everything in honor of my friend KJ.  He loved white so much just like me.  I miss you bud.  May you be celebrating an all-white birthday in heaven!

love2More South Side beauty.

love10Happy early birthday to this crazy awesome guy ♥ Can’t wait to grow old with you!

loveSoon to be Ms. Teodoru 🙂  Love story to be continued…

If we are Facebook friends you probably already saw our little silly way to announce the happy news a month ago, but if you haven’t seen it click here 😉
