Spring Makeup – My Favorites

There is be a few million beauty gurus out there on social media promoting products, so how do you know who’s getting paid to “like” a product?  Well I am not getting paid, so here’s my honest opinion on my spring makeup faves.  Trial and error so you don’t have to. 😉  That’s a major goal of beauty blogging because trying new beauty products can be a little intimidating, at least for me.  I experiment with drugstore and counter brands, I don’t discriminate 😉  I don’t wear make up everyday since I work from home and this has been a plus to let the pores breathe a little more.  Even when I had my 9-5, I made it a goal to not wear any make-up on my days off.

So let’s get back to the favorites, and more specifically some of my Spring makeup picks.  Summer & Spring makeup means golden tones, shimmery skin, peachy cheeks, and rosy lips.  Make up is a little lighter for the most part but what I love the most is that looks can transition from daytime to night much easier.  I gathered some all time favorites and some new additions to my Spring makeup fam.  I would love to hear about your makeup faves!  Message me below ♥

beauty11“Natural” do’ compared to Kardashian-esque looks these days but  for me this is on the heavier side.  This is also my go-to nighttime look with a nude lip and some black lower lash liner.

beauty5The OGs: (always in the fam)  Nars liquid illuminator in Super Orgasm, Girl Meets Pearl, Too Faced luminous bronzer in Snow Bunny, Sephora metallic eye pencil & Clinique lash doubling mascara.  The Newbies:  L’Oreal invisible protect dry oil, Fresh Sugar in Cherry & NYX color correcting concealer.  Shop Products at the end of the post 🙂

beauty13Love adding a small dash of metallic turquoise to the inner lower lash line.  Great for all eye colors!

beauty4Did soooo much research on sunblocks and finally landed on this glorious oil.  What I learned with sunblock testing is that is all about what your needs/wants are.  I want great protection so I don’t feel like I’m literally frying under the sun, a little shimmer but not oily & a light scent.  This sunblock has it all for me complete with UVA/UVB protection.  My skin felt soft and hydrated even after sun exposure.  My new favorite sun buddy ♥

beauty12I add a little Nars Orgasm + Girl Meets Pearl everywhere!  Finishing touch on cheek bones, tip of the nose, crease above lip, and brow bones. Spring make up reminds me to highlight that healthy glow!

beauty8Drugstore brands seem to have never heard of lip tint + SPF!  So I ventured to Sephora to invest.  This Fresh® lip tint is glorious. $25 for lip SPF is not cheap but worth every penny.  I like a little lip color at the beach or as a everyday lippy so this is perfection.

beauty6So here’s what I use as foundation.  NYX corrector (first time using) has 50/50 good + bad reviews but since it’s so affordable I decided to make it my starter corrector.  Would I buy it again? No.  It’s good for the price but didn’t meet my needs.  I believe it would be better for fair skin tones, it made me look a bit grey so I used very little.  Creased a bit and had a little trouble blending.

Now for my OGs:  My go to drugstore brand concealer is this Sonia Kashuk. Blends perfectly, great texture and best part matches my skin tone.  I only use pressed and loose MAC mineralize powder as foundation.  Very light coverage but I love the natural dewy look without looking greasy which is great for peeps with combo skin like me.  Another winner is the Elf high definition powder, oh is this thing magical!  This powder adds on that velvety look to smooth out pores, lines, and I notice it seals my foundation powder.  It’s a must for my photo shoots or a night out because it helps capture light.

beauty2The Newbies:  Naked3- The hype for Naked Palettes is real yo!  Finally fell for it and yeaaaah they’re good!  Beautiful rose pigments ranging from mattes, pearls, and shimmering metallics.  One of the most complete spring/summer palettes I’ve ever had.  Color lasts longer and it’s richer over a primer.  I use Urban Decay (not pictured).  $55 bucks for a palette, totally worth it.

The OGs:  Clinique lash doubling mascara has been my favorite for many years.  I got a sample and I was hooked.  This mascara lengthens, thickens & separates.  I have very thin lashes and this mascara doubles the volume.  Note, I am wearing half false lashes to add volume 😉  Sephora metallic eye pencil- This pencil reminds me of summer, as anything turquoise does 😉  I use it conservatively to avoid looking like a showgirl :p  This is a fave.
